Ralph Scannell Jr. is a transformative financial services executive with over two decades of leadership in the banking industry. As Senior Strategy Leader at City National Bank of Florida, Ralph architects and drives multi-year strategic plans, identifying initiatives that fuel growth across the bank’s core businesses — including Wholesale, Commercial, Business and Personal Banking, International Banking, Private and Wealth Management (City National Private), Capital Markets, Treasury Management, and Expansion Markets.

Known for his ability to translate vision into execution, Ralph brings deep expertise in modern banking and a relentless focus on innovation, profitability, and client experience. His strategic foresight and operational rigor have positioned him as a trusted leader in navigating complex transformations and unlocking new market opportunities.

Before joining City National in early 2022, Ralph spent 12 years at a global bank headquartered in New York, where he held progressive leadership roles and built a reputation for delivering results. As U.S. Head of Payments and FX, he led the development and execution of a comprehensive payments strategy, creating a seamless, digital-first client experience across channels. Prior to that, as U.S. Head of Business Banking: Proposition and Lending, Ralph launched the U.S. Small Business brand — defining the target market, building the product suite, and designing the end-to-end client journey.

Ralph is also deeply committed to community and industry engagement. He is a founding director of Jackson’s Closet Foundation, a member of Consumer Bankers Association Small Business Committee, supports Junior Achievement initiatives and is an active member of City National Bank’s Onyx ERG, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization. In addition, he has served on the board of the Academy of Finance and was a previously member of Consumer Bankers Association Deposits & Payments committee.

He holds a degree from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University.
